Situated at the junction of I-29 and I-90, McCrossan Boys Ranch,a religious-based non-profit housing and educational institution for troubled youth, has provided sanctuary for countless young boys, with ages ranging from early grade school up through high school. With a large portion of its daily operating costs derived from donations, the Ranch’s longevity ultimately lies upon its ability to effectively market for and pursue donations. A single Board Member generously donated the funds required to provide the Ranch a new Administration Building Addition, to relieve

pressure on the aging Lodmel Hall (existing Admin Building) and allow the Ranch to continue growing.

The design of the building was driven by a careful analysis of the surrounding Campus buildings. After numerous exterior iterations, a scheme was developed in which all members of the design review committee and design team were happy to proceed with. The exterior is a precise and unique blend of interior function and exterior symmetry. Due to the proximity and frontage to I-90, special care was taken to produce a window pattern that blended interior function with exterior symmetry. The Ranch has since decided to use the exterior design of the Admin Addition as a design guide for all future projects, as a benchmark for the new

‘Campus Aesthetic.’
